NOMINATION PERIOD: SEPTEMBER 19 - OCTOBER 3, 5PM

Nomination Period

Nominations begin on September 19th, 2022 and end on October 3rd, 2022 at 5:00 pm. Please note that late and/or incomplete submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances. All Nomination information shall be submitted using the official nomination form found here.

NOTE: For all electronic submissions, documents must be word files, or e-mail texts. No pdf files will be accepted.

 

Election Information Session

If you are interested in running for a position in the WCSA Fall By-Election, you are encouraged to attend an information session on September 23rd, 2022 at 5:00-7:00 pm over zoom (https://utoronto.zoom.us/j/8749879227, Meeting ID: 874 987 9227)

 

All Candidates Meeting

You are required to attend the All Candidates Meeting in order to ensure your candidacy in the election. The All Candidates Meeting will take place on October 4th, 2022 at 5:00 pm on Zoom (https://utoronto.zoom.us/j/8749879227, Meeting ID: 874 987 9227). A recording will be sent to all candidates who cannot attend.

 

Campaign Period

The campaign period is from October 5th, 2022 at 12:00am to October 12th, 2022 at 6:00 pm. You are expected to read the WCSA Election Policy and strictly adhere to it for the duration of your campaign. The policy may be found here. All posters must be approved by the CRO. You may email them to the CRO to be signed when you have them prepared. 

NOTE: Campaign period begins after the all candidates meeting.

 

Candidate Speeches

Candidate speeches will take place on October 12th, 2022 at 5:00 pm over Zoom (https://utoronto.zoom.us/j/8749879227, Meeting ID: 874 987 9227). You are not required to give a speech, but it is strongly encouraged. All candidates will be given an opportunity to submit a recorded speech to be uploaded onto the WCSA website after the meeting. 

 

Voting Period

The voting period will be taking place from October 13th, 2022 at 12:00am to October 16th, 2022 at 11:59pm. Voting will be done through http://voting.utoronto.ca, and may be accessed by using a UTORid. All Woodsworth College students are eligible to vote. No campaigning is allowed during the voting period beyond publicizing the fact that the election is happening and you are a candidate. To do so will result in an election policy violation.

 

Appeal Period

The appeal period will be from October 18th, 2022 at 9:00am to October 19th, 2022 at 11:59pm.

NOTE: Brief descriptions of each available position are found in WCSA’s Bylaws.

Eligibility

• You must be an active student of Woodsworth College, as defined by the Registrar of Woodsworth College, who has enrolled in a minimum of one half-credit or one pre-university course during the current calendar year.

• You must not be on academic probation.

• You must be nominated by a minimum of ten (10) Woodsworth College students if you are seeking election to a Director position. WCSA strongly suggests that you gain signatures beyond the minimum, as each student number will be reviewed by the Registrar’s Office.

• You must be nominated by a minimum of twenty-five (25) Woodsworth College students if you are seeking election to a UTSU Director position or an Executive position. WCSA strongly suggests that you gain signatures beyond the minimum, as each student number will be reviewed by the Registrar’s Office.

• You must include a personal statement of no more than 850 characters (includes spaces) - this will be listed next to your name on the ballot.

• You must attend the All Candidates Meeting or send a proxy on your behalf if you are not able to attend.

• For the position of Academic Bridging Students’ Director, the candidate must be/have been a student of the Academic Bridging Program.

• For the position of Mature Students’ Director, the candidate must be a Mature student for the year in which they will be holding office, as deemed by the Registrar’s Office.

• For the position of First Year Students’ Director, the candidates must be a First Year student for the year in which they will be holding office, as deemed by the Registrar’s Office.

• For the position of Part-Time Students’ Director, the candidate must be a Part-Time student for the year in which they will be holding office, as deemed by the Registrar’s Office.

• For the position of Off-Campus Students’ Director, the candidate must be residing outside of the University campus for the year they will be holding office.

• For the position of Indigenous Students’ Director, the candidate must be a student who has an ancestry or is descended from or self-identifies with Indigenous peoples in Canada.

Nomination Package & Checklist

Checklist:

  1. Submit a Completed Nomination Form found here by October 3th at 5:00PM, submission includes:

    1. Your information (Name, Student Number, Email Address);

    2. Completed nomination list of at least 10 or 25 Woodsworth College students (with correct student numbers and names), signature form found here

    3. A personal statement of no more than 850 characters (includes spaces).

 

WCSA reserves the right to use your personal statement, unedited, for promotion of the election in any college publication, or other forums such as its bulletin boards, list serve, or websites.

The Nomination Signature form can be found here. Make a copy of the form, replace the blanks with your name and position you intend to run for, send it to any Woodsworth college student who agrees to nominate you and have them fill in the information required. Once you have your required number of signatures, you can attach it to your response to the nomination form found here. We recommend you collect at least two additional nominators to prevent you from being disqualified in the event there is an issue with verifying one or more of your other nominators.
